
David E. Bodie
In 1997, Mr. Bodie retired from the Montgomery County, Maryland, Department of Police. During Mr. Bodie’s twenty-three years with the Montgomery County Police he served in a variety of positions including: executive assistant to the Chief of Police, Director of the Office of Staff Inspections, Accreditation Manager, Deputy District Commander, Commander of the Silver Spring Community Policing Unit, shift commander, academy instructor and patrol officer. Upon his retirement, Mr. Bodie founded Bodie Consulting Services which provides management and training services to the public safety community.
Additionally, Mr. Bodie provides training services to the International Training Units of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US Drug Enforcement Agency. He has developed and presents a course on the role of Human Dignity and Human Rights in law enforcement. Mr. Bodie has also presented training programs at the U.S. Department of Justice’s International Law Enforcement Academy for Eastern Europe in Budapest Hungary.
Mr. Bodie also provides consulting and training assistance in the areas of supervisory leadership, executive development, change management, operational and strategic planning, team building, organizational communications, and community policing. He was a featured speaker at the National Community Policing Conference in Portland Oregon where he did a presentation entitled "Managing the Change Process." In 1999, David was a featured speaker at the International Seminar for Law Enforcement Training in the Americas. This seminar was given in Sao Paulo Brazil and David’s topic was "The Role of Technology in Law Enforcement Training."
In 1972, David graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Police Administration. In 1982, he was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Forensic Science from Antioch University. Mr. Bodie is also an adjunct faculty member of Howard Community College. His teaching assignments include a variety of criminal justice courses. David is also a Certified Aggression Management® Trainer.
David is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, The American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers, the American Society for Training and Development and The Institute of Management Consultants.
